Clarifying the Dulux Master Painters 5 year workmanship guarantee.

Recently, we've observed a lot of interest in the Dulux Master Painters 5 year workmanship guarantee.  Particularly, from our exterior painting customers.

This interest may be due to the view that because exterior surfaces are exposed to the weather elements, there may be more potential for unexpected surprises.

We thought we'd share our experience with offering this guarantee.  We understand that we are one of the registered Master Painters who frequently apply for this guarantee for our customers.  To date, Master Painters New Zealand has approved each of our applications.

The Master Painters website includes the facts about the Dulux Master Painters 5 year workmanship guarantee.

Most customers prefer to consider Resene or Dulux paint products for their exterior painting projects.

Based on feedback we have received, one of the attractions of using the Dulux paint products is the potential to receive the 5 year workmanship guarantee.  This is great for those customers who choose light colours for all the exterior surfaces of their house.

In some instances, a darker colour, on some surfaces may be preferred.  In these situations, we suggest the Resene Cool Colour Technology to our customers.

What does this mean for customers who wish to secure the 5 year workmanship guarantee but also want to benefit from the Resene Cool Colour Technology?

We suggest to customers that they select Dulux colours for the main body of their house.  This means they potentially receive the 5 year workmanship guarantee on these surfaces.

Customers may choose darker colours from Resene for surfaces with small total surface areas, such as, bargeboards and fascias.  If Resene products are utilised, these surfaces are not covered under the 5 year workmanship guarantee.  However, the main body of the house potentially is.
