FAQ's

How do you prepare surfaces for painting?
Preparation is the most important factor in ensuring a high quality paint finish. Typically, we follow a five step process to prepare the surfaces for painting.
Do you remove wallpaper?
Yes we do. Please be aware that, after removing wallpaper, your walls may require skim coating to create a smooth surface. The alternative is to replace old wallboards with new ones. Painting will not rectify any existing imperfections on your walls.
I need help choosing the right colours. Can you assist?
We have a network of trusted and qualified interior designers and colour consultants, and can refer you to the professional who is best suited to your project.
Do you substitute paint brands or colours?
Our aim is to produce the precise effect you desire. We use the exact paint brand and colour that has been specified. We will never substitute the colour or paint brand specified for another.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
Every surface will receive two topcoats of paint. There may be times when additional topcoats are required to ensure adequate coverage. This generally occurs when the existing paint colour is dark and you wish to repaint with a lighter colour.
What are my options if something goes wrong?
Ensuring you have a stress-free experience is our top priority. Nonetheless, we recognise that occasionally mistakes can be made. We are registered Master Painters, meaning our work and conduct must meet strict industry standards. We are also bound by the implied warranties contained in the Building Act 2004.
We will honour our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act, where you are regarded a 'consumer' under the Act. We will also provide a Dulux Master Painters New Zealand five year workmanship guarantee, providing your project meets the required terms and conditions.
Throughout your painting project, we will communicate with you proactively so that any concerns you have are resolved promptly.
After the painting project is complete, we stay in touch and continue to value your feedback.
How much do you charge?
Ultimately, your investment is defined by your requirements. We will work closely with you to determine exactly what your needs are.
To deliver excellent value for money, the finish we achieve has to look good and stand the test of time. For this reason, you can be assured that the team allocated to your project will be led by a Master Painter and that only top quality paints and materials will be used.
My friend and I have similar sized homes, however the house painting quotes we have received differ significantly. Why is that?
While some houses may seem of a similar size, every project we work on is unique. Below is an overview of the factors that can influence a house painting quote.
Preparation: Some surfaces may require more preparation than others and this will be reflected in our quote. For example, a weathered timber surface will need more preparation than a brand new window architrave.
Paint: The brand of paint you choose to apply on your home will also influence the cost of the project. As a general rule of thumb, the better the quality of paint the higher the price. High quality paints usually offer better value as they will last longer.
Dark paint colours are generally more expensive than light ones. Further, if your walls are currently a dark colour and your new colours are light, more coats will need to be applied to ensure the existing dark colour is adequately covered.
Lastly, consider the number of colours to be applied to your home. Fewer colours means that larger quantities of paint can be purchased, resulting in economies of scale.
Equipment: On some projects we will need additional equipment to complete the work, which creates an additional cost. A typical example is scaffolding.
Do you carry public liability insurance?
We carry comprehensive public liability insurance that is appropriate for the calibre of properties we work on.
