How to add value to your home through colour
We’ve all been to open homes, visited family and friends at their homes and flicked through home and décor magazines. We’ve all admired some of the colour schemes and thought about replicating the same in our own homes.
Some of us have even gone to the extent of replicating the colours.
Some of us have been ecstatic with the transformation.
Some of us have been somewhat dismayed. Why is it that despite us replicating every single detail, some of us have been more successful than others? What went wrong?
Colour can work magic. Used the right way, it can add value to your home. It can transform an environment, create a style, set a mood and alter perceptions. It can also be a way in which you bring your walls to life, draw out your home’s finest features and stamp your personality on your haven.
If used incorrectly, colour can work against a room’s ambience. At its worst, it can actually turn someone off your home.
We can all relate to situations where we have been inside a home, which the owners have taken great pains to present. However, we weren’t quite able to share their sense of enthusiasm and accomplishment. The colours they had picked were just … odd.
Cast your minds back to how you felt about the house in those situations. Are these the sort of thoughts you want your visitors to have?
We have a special report that discusses the key considerations when you are selecting a new colour palette for your home.
In this report, there is explanation of why some colours picked from a colour chart or test pot never look quite the same when applied onto a large surface. There are also some tips on how to minimise mistakes.
The report covers how your aspirations for your home, the functional use of each room and your long-term plans, can affect your colour choices. There is also a taste of how the extent of your renovations will impact colour and sheen decisions.
It will provide a clearer idea of what you should consider when choosing colours for your home. It is not as simple as going into a paint shop, collecting some colour charts and test pots and saying “this will do” – not if you want your home to be the best it can be … colour wise.
