FAQ's

How do you prepare surfaces for painting?
Preparation is the most important factor in ensuring a high quality paint finish. Typically, we follow a five step process to prepare surfaces for painting.
Do you remove wallpaper?
Yes we do. Please be aware that, after removing wallpaper, walls may require skim coating to create a smooth surface. The alternative is to replace old wallboards with new ones. Painting will not rectify any existing imperfections on your client’s walls.
Do you substitute paint brands or colours?
Our aim is to produce the precise effect you desire. We use the exact paint brand and colour that has been specified. We will never attempt to substitute the colour or paint brand specified for another.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
Every surface will receive two topcoats of paint. There may be times when additional topcoats are required to ensure adequate coverage. This generally occurs when the existing paint colour is dark and you wish to repaint with a lighter colour.
What are my client’s options if something goes wrong?
Ensuring your client has a stress-free experience is our top priority. Nonetheless, we recognise that occasionally mistakes can be made. We are registered Master Painters, so our work and conduct must meet strict industry standards. We are also bound by the implied warranties contained in the Building Act 2004.
We will honour our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act, where your client is regarded a 'consumer' under the Act. We will also provide a Dulux Master Painters New Zealand five year workmanship guarantee, providing the project meets the required terms and conditions.
Throughout the painting project, we will communicate with you and your client proactively so that any concerns are resolved promptly.
After the painting project is complete, we stay in touch and continue to value your feedback.
How much do you charge?
Ultimately, your client’s investment is defined by their requirements. We will work closely with you and your client to determine exactly what their needs are.
To deliver excellent value for money, the finish we achieve has to look good and stand the test of time. For this reason, you can be assured that the team allocated to your client’s project will be led by a Master Painter and that only top quality paints and materials will be used.
Do you carry public liability insurance?
We carry comprehensive public liability insurance that is appropriate for the calibre of properties we work on.
How will you approach my client’s project?
We believe that for your client to have a stress-free experience, they should not receive any nasty surprises. Within each proposal we provide the following information:
- What is inside and outside the scope of our work.
- The forecast timeframe for your client’s house painting project.
- How we will approach your client’s project, including:
- The type of preparation work we will do.
- The types of product we will use.
- The number of coats of paint we will apply.
- The project logistics – specifically, what each party needs to do before, during and after the painting project.
- Our proposed fee and the components included within it.
