Interior & exterior repainting · Herne Bay, Auckland

Recognition Highly commended, MPNZ 2020

A Herne Bay home kept to an exacting standard

Nestled on the northern slopes of Herne Bay, this weatherboard bungalow is meticulously cared for by owners who take genuine pride in keeping an immaculate home. Having moved in about a decade earlier, our clients recognised that the time had come to repaint the exterior. Rather than searching the market themselves, they asked Auckland interior designer Megan Poole to recommend a painting contractor. She recommended Wall Treats.

When the unexpected becomes part of the brief

Before work could begin, the exterior needed some repairs. Rather than leaving our clients to source and manage a separate contractor, we arranged the remedial work ourselves — because a seamless experience is part of what we offer. Then, in the midst of repainting the exterior, it became clear that part of the roof also needed replacing. Again, we called on our trusted network and coordinated a roofer to carry out the work. As a result, our clients had no stressful phone calls to make, no contractors to juggle, and no delays to manage. If you'd like to understand more about how the right trades can shape a project, our post on the trades that can make or break a project is worth reading.

The moment trust becomes something more

As the exterior project progressed, something equally important developed alongside it — trust. By the time the exterior work was complete, our clients felt confident enough to hand us the keys to their home and ask us to fully repaint the interior while they headed to their beach house. That's not a decision you make lightly. It's a decision you make when you know, with certainty, that the people in your home will treat it as their own. At the same time, our clients asked us to bring in our electrician to install new ceiling lights — and once again, we were able to assist through our trusted trades network. To read more about what that level of trust looks like in practice, our post on the Wall Treats difference tells that story well. You can also see how we've built similar long-term client relationships in our Herne Bay planning for success case study.

Highly commended. Master Painters NZ 2020.

The outcome spoke for itself. In 2020, the judges at the Master Painters New Zealand Awards awarded the project highly commended in the Residential Rework Exterior (Character) category. It's the same benchmark earned by our Epsom and Mt Eden projects, and it reflects the same standard we bring to every home we work on. You can see more of our work across our portfolio, or read more about what drives our approach on our About us page.

Frequently asked questions

Do you paint character and weatherboard homes in Herne Bay?

Yes — Herne Bay is one of our most active areas. We specialise in character bungalows, villas, and weatherboard homes across Auckland's inner-city suburbs, including Herne Bay, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Mt Eden, and Parnell. Our registered Master Painters understand the preparation requirements and period finishes that these homes demand.

Can Wall Treats coordinate other trades as part of a painting project?

Absolutely. We have a trusted network of tradespeople - including roofers, electricians, and repair specialists - that we call on when a project requires it. Rather than leaving you to manage multiple contractors, we coordinate on your behalf to ensure a seamless experience from start to finish.

Can you complete interior painting while we are away from home?

Yes. We regularly work in clients' homes while they are travelling or staying elsewhere. Our team is discreet, trustworthy, and entirely respectful of your property. The trust our clients place in us is something we take seriously on every single project.

Do interior designers recommend Wall Treats?

Yes - many of our clients come to us through referrals from Auckland interior designers and architects. Our reliability, communication, and quality of finish mean we are the painters that designers trust and refer with confidence. If you're working with a designer on your home, we're happy to collaborate directly with them.
